Dear MAYSC Parents:

The 2012 soccer season is approaching fast and there is much to be done before the official start of the season.

1. Child’s BIRTH CERTIFICATE will now need to be shown at registration
2. U9 thru U15 - Any PICTURE of your child is needed (this will be used for “players passes”)
3. Note location change of registration location
4. Season will be beginning the week of July 16th
5. High School players (under age 15)  ARE now ALLOWED to play both recreational and high school soccer

There are many positions needed for volunteering during the soccer season.  MAYSC is seeking all parents to step up and help in any capacity they can.  There will be sign up forms at registration where each parent will be required to complete and choose where they can be of help.

Also, we had positive feedback last year about offering the socks to the players and creating “one stop shopping” for parents. In response, MAYSC will have items available for purchase at registration - all of which your child will need for the season.  MAYSC does not benefit from these items being sold we are just trying to make things as easy as possible for you the parent.

The following are items that will be available at registration if you choose to take advantage of them:

1. U5/U6 & U8 - Black shorts, black socks, and a size 3 soccer ball (ages 4 thru 7)
2. U9 and U11 - Size 4 soccer ball, royal blue socks
3. U13 and U15 - Size 5 soccer ball, royal blue socks
4. Logo items available for players, family & friends such as sweatshirts, t-shirts and shorts (order form will be sent out prior to registration and it will also be available on our website www.maysc.net.

TIMES	6:00-7:30 pm
LOCATION	First United Methodist Church (corner of 2nd & Carbon St.)
FEE	$45 per player ($40.00 each additional child in the same family)
NOTES	(NEW this year) Player birth certificate is now REQUIRED & a photo of each child registering to play U9 or older
	Schuylkill County Youth Soccer Association has adopted a new rule requiring "player passes" to be used this year

	a.m. sessions is 9-12 or choose p.m. session 5-8 p.m.

Delaware Avenue Field Update

In addition, MAYSC is hoping to get the Delaware Avenue field into better playing condition by resurfacing and reseeding some areas throughout the field.  As some of you may know, we encountered an issue last year on the U9 and older leagues where the county found our field unsafe due to glass.  Due to that area once being a “dump”, the glass will continue to be an issue especially the harder the field is used the more likely to uproot glass and other particles that were once dumped there.  With this in mind, our future goal is to have the entire Delaware Avenue field redone through properly engineered steps.  In order to do that, we need to raise more money to help cover the cost of such a project. We have already been given a rough estimate that could easily exceed $100,000, which MAYSC currently does not have. 

The important issue here is the future of our children being able to continue to have youth soccer in Minersville. The MAYSC Board, along with your help, would like to work towards this long term goal.  With that being said, if anyone has any experience or help they can offer to us throughout this planning of redoing the field is encouraged to attend the monthly board meetings which are held the 3rd Sunday of each month at the United Methodist Church beginning at 7:00 P.M.  These meetings each month are not just open to the board, they are for you the parent, as well, to come and express your ideas, concerns, and/or offer your help.  If you are unable to attend a meeting but would like to offer some assistance, please contact any board member with your interest.

We are also inquiring about state grants that may be available for projects such as this while also needing to work closely with Minersville Borough.
